  • GECAC Employment Mentoring Program
    Give Every Child A Chance is offering a mentoring program to youth ages 17-21 who are interested in learning what really goes on in the workplace through job shadowing while exploring various career interests. The Program is a 6 hour a week, 6 week commitment program, that will give youth the opportunity to meet key individuals in the industry of their career choice and learn firsthand the skills and education needed to complete, as well as succeed, in today's job market.   • School's After School Advantage Program
    Lathrop Elementary School's After School Advantage Program was recently honored to have a representative from the Assembly Member Cathleen Galgiani's office, Chanel Murray, present a certificate of recognition to the ASAP Program Staff for all their efforts to positively impact the lives of their students. This after school program offers homework assistance, enrichment and learning activities, and physical education from Give Every Child a Chance.

    AgVenture 2011-2012
    On Wednesday, October 12th, more than 4,000 third grade students visited the school farm for AgVenture. Students were greeted by volunteers as they arrived on the school buses. The students enjoyed presentations and displays on nutrition, water and soil, locally grown crops, machinery, live animals, and much more. You could see nothing but smiles on the kids faces as they left the farm! It was a worthwile and exciting experience for everyone!!

    Region 6 of the California League of Middle Schools held its annual Educator of the Year celebration at Chez Cheri on November 21st. MUSD's EOY nominee was Audrey Greene, principal of Shasta School. She was nominated for her dedication, passion, and relentless pursuit of all avenues to drive student success in the academic, social and emotional lives of each student at Shasta School. Congratulations, Audrey!!!
