The MUSD Art Show was a huge success! Students, families, and District employees all attended the show. The art show showcased the finest examples of art from each high school. There was a first, second, and third place winner chosen for each category. Many thanks to everyone who participated!
East Union student, Ben Liwanag, won the state proficiency in Small Animal Production. Ben will go on to represent East Union FFA and the California FFA at the National FFA Convention in October!
Mitchell Liwanag also won a state scholarship for Crop Science.

Kicking for a Cure
The Annual MHS girls' soccer Kicking for a Cure game will be held April 19th vs. Sonora High at 5:00 p.m. The proceeds will be donated to the Benefit Fund for Riley Simmons. We encourage everyone to join in the fight against cancer.

Manteca Unified Shines at the 32nd Annual Academic Decathalon Competition
On February 6th, the winners of the 32nd Annual Academic Decathalon were announced. Among the top three large schools in the competition, Manteca High School placed second for two years in a row. Lathrop High School placed third among the top three small schools in the Top Overall Teams division. Congratulations to both Schools!

Every year the SJ Valley Air District needs artists in grades K-12 to submit drawings with clean air themes for the annual Calendar Contest. Three Manteca Unified students artwork were featured in the 2013 calendar!!

GRAND OPENING-MUVA Cafe
MUVA Culinary Arts students were up bright and early on Tuesday morning welcoming customers to their Cafe's Grand Opening. The Cafe had a line of customers all day enjoying the many items offered on their menu; assorted sandwiches, salads, fresh fruit, pastries, soups, and specialty coffees. Students are in charge of the day-to-day menu planning, food preparation, kitchen clean-up, and customer service. The student-run cafe is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. to District employees only. MUVA is the first vocational charter school established by MUSD. The school offers vocational training to students while receiving their diploma at the same time.

In an attempt to protect our property, the District has expanded the We Tip Program to cover all MUSD sites, including the District Office.
The We Tip Program works in conjunction with local law enforcement to investigate illegal activity on our campuses. All are encouraged to contact the We Tip Hotline number if you have any information regarding a crime that has happened or will happen on an MUSD campus. Tips are tracked anonymously, and the caller may be eligible to receive up to $1,000 if the tip leads to the arrest and/or conviction of the culprit. Additional Information
